About Elisabetta Cunsolo

I received my doctorate in art history from the University of Bologna in 2004, specializing in the study of book illustration of the 16th and 17th centuries. I published in different articles my research focused on engravings made for some medical treatises printed in Italy in the second half of the 16th century with the aim to reconstruct the history of these books through the study of the connections that existed between physicians, engravers, and editors. I developed also a deep interest and gained a professional experience with photography and photographic reproductions of works of art working as the assistant curator and project manager for the cataloging and digitization projects of the Berenson Fototeca at Villa I Tatti, The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence, Italy. My current research regards an ancient palace in Bologna, Casa Agucchi, demolished between 1930 and 1931 due to the works of renovation and expansion of the university, then rebuilt uniforming the façade on via Zamboni, and now headquarter of the Bolognese Academy of Sciences, the Institute founded in 1711 by Luigi Ferdinando Marsigli. I'm also studying an interesting wooden ceiling found inside the building, painted and dated August 1480, the time of the highest glory of the Bentivoglio family.
